Please don't share what you see on this blog, particularly not project WIPs! Feel free to talk to me about the games I'm playing and stuff though. Sorry in advance for any inscrutable talk about idols ♡(ミ ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣ ﻌ ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣ ミ)ノ

pride! I made this display for work (plus the "pride pins" lettering done by my great coworker). hmm... don't feel like I can sum up my feelings on my queerness and relation to pride in a blog post. but it was fun making this
honestly, if my job was just making crafts and hanging out with my coworkers I'd be pretty content, low pay and all. alas! I must perform customer service!
Lately I've picked up a new hobby - needlefelting!! It started because I'm building a miniature and wanted to make a thatch roof for it and then it just spiraled into madness. as was inevitable! I really like it because I like tactile work a lot, and felting is a lot more like sculpting than I thought... I started with basic 3D shapes and now I'm working on animals.
I wish I had taken some pictures of the pipe cleaner armature before I added the felt. But it's still in progress here. Next I'll add the white chest and dark tips on the ears. A couple months ago I couldn't imagine making something like this and now I can do it! learning new skills is the joy of my life honestly!
In sadder news I got some ice cream today and it was expensive and also bad u_u

Went to a tag sale with my friend J this weekend - look at this guy I found.
It's Lalie!!!
We looked up where he came from and apparently he's part of some merchandise made for Colonial Williamsburg in maybe... the 60s? He's in really beautiful shape and only $3!! Thank you to J for buying him for meee ヽ(≧◡≦)八(o^ ^o)ノ
In case you were wondering what I ended up doing on shinee's anniversary (on the 25th) I went... to work!! I was feeling a little nuts the day before and day of but I wore my stupid celebration outfit and bought my coworkers cupcakes to celebrate. A beloved ex-coworker came to visit and I described the cupcakes like "buying cigars for the birth of my child" lmao...
but over the weekend I watched part of a concert dvd I haven't watched yet, and then finished it on monday with a bottle of champagne... honestly felt way better after that long weekend.
last thing of note - I'm on a mission to beat the Monday NYT crossword in under 5 minutes... I didn't manage it but got closer than ever this Monday |・ω・)
gahh!!!

Back from Baltimore and done with my work week...! I had to get a super early amtrak on Friday to get back to NY in time to get to work, but I'm not as tired as I thought I'd be. Mamamoo was super fun - my friend L who bought the tickets got us seats at the edge of the balcony facing the right side of the stage, which I loved because I really enjoy choreo and it was great seeing the dance formations in like, 3D space. I was a little suprised by how many of their songs I remember! I was listening to mamamoo when they debuted in 2015 so I knew their earlier stuff pretty well, but I also got exposed to a bunch of their other music through a friend I was really close with for a while... so the concert dug up a lot of memories. Honestly, going to idol concerts always makes me a little nuts because it reminds me of when I was a super hardcore fan, and then I get sad because I'm not anymore and miss feeling so passionately about a group. But I think it was easier to deal with this time since I was with good friends... grateful to them.
Anyway, you might be interested to know that Hwasa is exactly as sexy in real life as she is on a screen. She spent the whole concert strutting around "puss first", as L put it. The audience was yawping gayly for her and Moonbyul the whole show and I wonder if they know how beloved they are by lesbians LOL... they must know. Also we kept barking like dogs instead of cheering because of Moonbyul... what's gayer than that...
Wheein is so beautiful. Her voice and vocal control is unreal tbh. I feel bad for not mentioning Solar so I will say that she was trying super hard and I could tell (this is a compliment sldkjf)
Anyway, let's talk about something other than idols. I had a wonderful time seeing my friends. I've known them almost since starting out in indie comics and haven't seen them since 2019 probably... four of them live together in a beautiful neighborhood with sweet neighbors, and I kind of had a moment of understanding about the life I want in the future. An environment like that - especially living with friends who are family to me, and the green space - is my dream...
Also just had a lot of conversations about storytelling and comics and our feelings and interests and frustrations. I don't want to forget how natural it felt. It's something to aim for in my community...
Unrelated to all of that, there's a bar near my house I stop by sometimes because it's near the train station and it has outdoor seating. The last few times I've gone I've had some nice conversations with strangers, particularly a cool lady who was visiting from Ohio. We talked about art processes and the neighborhood (because she used to live there) and when I was ready to go home she gave me a big hug. We didn't even bother with the pretense of sharing numbers or social media handles... idk, it really touched me. It's great to be reminded that there are interesting people in the world you haven't met yet... she was really cute too. Married though!! Too bad (-ω-、)
May 15th 2023 (^・w・^✿)
First post(^・ω・^✿)I'm going to Baltimore tomorrow to see mamamoo in concert with my friends and I really wanted to start TotK before I left, but I started doing some edits on the blog and before I knew it the day was almost over...
I went home for Mother's Day this weekend. Home isnt very far for me, just on Long Island. I used to go once a month but since starting my retail job last October I've been fighting for every bit of time I can get... I miss my folks though. Our garden is really lush and green right now and after I arrived we started planting vegetables. For my family this is more fun than going out to a nice restaurant LMAO
One big thing I wanted to take care of while I was back this time was getting my strawberry plants out of their container and into the ground. I've had this plant for something like five years, maybe six?
It was doing really well while I was living with my parents because I could keep an eye on it and help pollinate it if needed. Once I moved it started producing way less fruit - that picture is from the second year I had it I think, and last year it grew four strawberries tops. My fantasy has always been to have a garden space where I can let it go wild, because strawberries grow like crazy if you let them, but it will probably be a long time before I can afford anything like that. In the meantime my parents let me have this weird patch on the side of the house where we usually have mint. I think in the future I can grow more plants from the runners and take them to my own garden...
here's the original plant in the ground. The dark green one in the back is a gift from my mama (o˘◡˘o)
this is a "mara des bois" variety that I bought this year to add some fresh blood to the strawb family. the label says the fruit has the highest flavor and fragnance of any variety... wrow
and this is a variety from holland called "summer breeze cherry blossom". actually my mom wanted these, and I was curious to see how they'd do with the other plants... so I guess we'll see by next year?
here's the path to the side of the house. this rose bush gets bigger every year and now it's so huge its hanging over the gate like a natural archway... I thought it was so pretty. a real pain in the neck to crawl through tho!!
shinee's 15th anniversary is coming up soon and I have to decide if I'm going to take the day off work. I have an unused holiday I could call in but also... is that stupid... I don't even plan on keeping up with the comeback... but also I plan on watching an old concert and crying and I will need energy for that LOL... I'll think on it.
